I’ve enjoyed playing a particular card house for a long time; beginning around January 1, 2016. Yesterday, I walked in and was met with a nice conversation with a Shift Manager.
Manager: “I suppose you’re been expecting this?”
Me: “No more Blackjack?”
(Man you got to love such a casual backoff!)
Apparently, he had asked others, in the pit, about me and the common response was “… oh, he’s ok”. For which, I know I’ve been helped by those there that know me and know what I’m doing but have been fine with and I DIDNT FEEL INCLINED TO SHARE! :-). He indicated reviewing a video and as he’s actively learning Card Counting very quickly saw the truth about what I was doing. He was a bit surprised how long I’ve been able to play there and suspect that they simply got use to me.
For the longest time I’ve kept JCNote’s comments about this card house and his comparison of Boiling a Frog; I’ve gone from a 1:4 to 1:8 bet spreads and unit sizes from $15 to $25
“The boiling frog is a parable describing a frog being slowly boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.”
From there we had a nice conversation and he was bit curious; asking me some questions of which I answered those that wouldn’t hurt/hinder any counters now or in the future He also indicated having respect for what we do and, to some degree, see that he’d like to give it a go himself.
I fully believe he has the fundamentals of card counting but is lacking in certain areas. I believe he’s learned a counting system but is likely ignorant of others, I can’t see that he’d have learned much about playing deviations, can convert to a true count but only using whole decks (oblivious to 1/2 and 1/4 deck estimates and their TC conversions).
I somehow mentioned Atlantic City not being allowed to backoff card counters. “Really? Shows you how much I don’t know”
(Long run at this casino was spoiled by ONE employee that is looking after the owners profit margins. Bummer. I was so put out that I instead took $2K from the next casino; what a night.)
